Oliver is a Lakeside Fellow from South Africa whose research focuses on African amphibians, with particular emphasis on conservation, systematics, ecology, and taxonomy. At the Academy he is conducting a taxonomic revision of the anuran genus Arthroleptella, which is endemic to the Cape Fold Mountains of the southwestern Cape, South Africa.
